Inspired by the notion of “印象” (Yin Xiàng), meaning “impression,” this project explores how design can communicate cultural authenticity and create a lasting impact. The invitation system was developed for renowned fashion designer Guo Pei, whose work challenges the misconception that Chinese fashion lacks originality and seeks to establish it as genuine, sophisticated, and culturally significant.

The design concept mirrors Guo Pei’s vision by creating a multi-layered experiential touchpoint that leaves a memorable impression. The direct mailer functions both as an invitation and an eye-catching outer envelope, complemented by an RSVP card and a tri-fold informational booklet that unfolds into a striking poster. As the event approaches, personalized save-the-dates and guest badges reinforce engagement and anticipation, ensuring a cohesive, thoughtful experience that elevates the brand narrative.

This project demonstrates concept-driven design thinking, blending storytelling, tangible interaction, and visual aesthetics to create a sophisticated, culturally resonant campaign that engages recipients long before the event itself.
