The Challenge
Tripadvisor faced the challenge of evolving its fragmented CRM ecosystem into a cohesive, intelligence-driven platform capable of supporting modern traveler expectations. Disconnected data, inconsistent messaging, and limited personalization made it difficult to deliver the relevant, timely experiences necessary to guide users seamlessly from inspiration to booking and beyond. The RFP opportunity was to reimagine CRM as a true travel companion that could deepen loyalty, increase engagement, and drive long-term customer value.
The Solution
I led the creative development of a modular CRM design system engineered for dynamic personalization at scale. Rather than designing fixed emails, we created a flexible template architecture supported by a robust library of interchangeable content modules—including destination recommendations, hotel suggestions, experiences, and loyalty messaging.
Each module was designed to dynamically populate based on real-time behavioral signals, first-party data, and traveler attributes. This enabled the backend CRM platform to intelligently assemble each email at send time, ensuring every communication reflected the recipient’s unique travel activity, interests, and journey stage.
This system empowered Tripadvisor to deliver individualized, contextually relevant experiences—from inspiring future trips to enhancing upcoming bookings—while also improving operational efficiency and enabling rapid content deployment across lifecycle journeys.
The Results
Our vision established a scalable foundation for Tripadvisor’s next generation of personalized CRM. The work was met with strong internal and client enthusiasm and secured the RFP win, positioning our team as a strategic partner in transforming Tripadvisor’s lifecycle marketing into a data-driven ecosystem.
